Who is responsible

AscentWork operates this site and is the controller of the personal data described here.

The short version

You can use AscentWork without an account. We collect your email address only if you give it to us. Your saved jobs, saved employers and the details you type into the visa route check stay in your browser and are never sent to us. We do not run advertising trackers and we do not sell personal data.

What we collect

  • Email address, if you enter it to unlock more results, join a list, or buy Pro. With it we store the form you used and, if you chose them, the countries or occupation you are interested in.
  • Payment details are collected and held by Stripe, our payment processor. We receive your email address, a customer reference and whether your subscription is active. We never see or store card numbers.
  • Technical logs. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes requests to the site (IP address, browser type, pages requested) to deliver it and protect it from abuse.

What stays on your device

Saved jobs and employers, application statuses, your plan status and, on Pro, an access key are stored in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser data removes them. The salary and profile details you enter in the visa route check are processed in your browser and are not transmitted.

CV matching and AI drafts

CV matching runs entirely in your browser: your CV is not uploaded, and only a list of recognised skills is kept in your browser's storage. If you ask for an AI draft (a cover letter or tailored bullets), the CV text and job details you submit are sent to our AI provider (Cloudflare Workers AI, or Anthropic) to produce the draft. We do not store them; we keep only a daily usage counter that cannot be traced back to you.

How we use it

To provide the service you asked for, to send the emails you signed up for, to manage subscriptions, and to keep the site working. We do not use your data for advertising and do not sell it.

Who we share it with

Only with the processors that run the service: Cloudflare (hosting, database and AI drafting) and Stripe (payments). If we add an email delivery provider it will be listed here.

Employer data

Employer records are public information published by government agencies. Some official files contain the names of sole traders or small businesses that include a personal name; we show them exactly as published. If such a record concerns you, contact us and we will review it.

Employer contacts

US Department of Labor disclosure files include, for each filing, the point of contact the employer itself named: a work email address and job title. Pro members can see the email address and job title for an employer, so that an applicant can send a relevant message to the right place. We do not publish the contact's name or phone number. If you are such a contact and want your address removed, email hello@ascentwork.com from that address (or about your whole domain) and it will be excluded from the next daily refresh.

Emails we send

If you join a list or create a job alert we email you only what you asked for. Every message has a one-click unsubscribe link, which also deletes your alerts.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, and you can unsubscribe from any list. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Retention

We keep your email address until you ask us to remove it or the list it belongs to is closed. Subscription records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
